Rust developer Double Eleven has been signed up by Bethesda to help create further Fallout 76 content alongside the main team back in Rockville, Maryland. Confirmed in a blog post on the company's website, the content the studio has worked on is planned to be released later this year after talks began in "late 2020". Even more content from Double Eleven for the game is also planned.
CEO Lee Hutchinson said: "It’s a privilege to be trusted to work on one of the most iconic franchises in gaming history. The team we’ve assembled to work on Fallout 76 are so passionate about the series, working with Bethesda is a dream come true."
This forms just one part of a "five-year roadmap" Bethesda has for Fallout 76, which will see the title supported for much of the PlayStation 5 generation. Speaking in an interview earlier this month, design director Mark Tucker touched on long-term plans that should dissuade the community from thinking it would be abandoned. "We've got a lot of fun, cool stuff that I can't wait to tell people about. Stuff that's beyond this year." Perhaps some of what Double Eleven has contributed will be part of that future. Maybe a native PS5 version could be on the cards also?
While it did suffer from a terrible launch, Fallout 76 has seemingly dusted itself off and improved vastly in the years since. Are you still playing the online title? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Ewrrr.... that game isn't dead yet?
The game where people built their own World under the World 🤣
Wow, how unfortunate to be making F76 content
Was interested in playing it again with all the updates included. But if there is no PS5 version. I won't be playing it.
Same here...about 300 hours total played but have not played it in the last year. Rough start but blossomed into a great game worthy of the Fallout name. They really need to update with PS5 version and 60fps, I may jump back in if there is an update.
I'll be honest, I trashed the game when it came out but after buying it last Xmas for cheap, I've been having a blast.
I'm already at 150hrs+ and still have so much to explore and do.
Can't wait to see what they have in store.
@frankmcma Rough start is an understatement. People were going underneath the map and playing there 🤣
Does Fallout 76 even have enough players to justify continuing support? Seems like time, money & resources better spent elsewhere if I'm being frank.
@Nepp67 - Definitely something I wouldn't want written on my resume when applying for another job in the Gaming Industry.
@JustPlainLoco Well it MS's money that paying for this new content.
@Gloamin @frankmcma @RawnDawn I’ve considered giving Fallout 76 another go on more than a few occasions. You’d all recommend it?
Can you play the game solo? I don’t like playing games. Against people. Online.
@LiamCroft I'd be interested too.
I do feel a retrospective review might be interesting.
@LiamCroft Highly recommended, plus it's always on sale for a low price (currently $13 on PSN). There is so much content in the base game alone, I would not bother with the add-ons just yet. Bethesda's well done Fallout 76 blog is great for keeping up with all that is going on. Also bonus points for one of the nicest communities in any game I have ever played. I played solo 99% of the time, only had interactions during events, when I opened my own store, and also some gave me tours of their amazing buildings that they have created (check out fallout 76 camp builds on YouTube). Otherwise felt like an open world single player RPG. Lotta fun!
This studio ported rust to consoles, no idea of the quality of the port.
@placekicker yes you can play solo, but you can't get all the trophies solo. There are even perks that give huge stat boosts for playing solo. Only the huge world bosses like the scorched queen would really require other people, but as soon as she's summoned, q bunch of people will show up to fight her so you don't even need to party up to participate in the fight.
As long as you don't attack other players, you basically don't have to worry about them griefing you. They still can kill you, but they deal so little damage without you attacking back that you'd have to be AFK for a while for them to kill you.
@placekicker I feel like this is a solo game with some co-op elements. Each server instance only has a handful of players, and since the map is so massive, you don’t even see others 99% of the time. There are no town squares with dozens of people dancing and wandering. This game is meant to be a solitary apocalypse adventure, like the previous games. Griefing was there in the first few months, but now if anyone gives you trouble they get a bounty on them and are highlighted on the map for all to see. Wasteland takes care of them if you know what I mean.
Yaaaayy -_-
Fallout 5?
Cars like Mad Max in it??
Pathetic.
@djlard they could make "5th" with cars like Mad Max, it would be better than this bull$hit
@frankmcma Thanks! I love the setting, but just didn’t want to deal with other people messing with me.
@Milktastrophe Thanks! I may pick it up then.
If you buy the game, do you need the yearly membership? Can you play without it?
@placekicker you don't need the membership. That's to rent a private server.
I've seen this on Game Pass. I may give it a whirl now that I hear it can be decent played solo.
It was an incredible game, even with some of the early issues, but indiscriminate ban waves, failed attempts at balancing, lack of any real new content, and the latest issues with cheaters, have ruined the game for me.
@LiamCroft Honestly, yeah.
It's a solid experience now especially compared to launch although you just missed out on a very cool event xd
The invaders from beyond brought a ton of cool events and items that sadly, can only be played during a short period of time, though I'm sure it'll get a rerun.
